Holidays, events and festivities in Antequera

Three kings parade: On January 5 arrive the Three Kings with their page boys in the early morning train at the Antequera train station; many children come to meet them at the station around 9:30 am. From the station they head to the hospital where they visit the elderly and hospitalized children and at 12 they have a reception at the town council.
The cavalcade takes place in the afternoon; the timetable is usually around 7 pm. It is an event in which participate many people and where are distributed up to 500 kilos of candy.

Carnival in Antequera takes place in early February (6 February in 2016). During the carnival is installed a tent where will take place the main performances and a costume contest; for the contest is necessary prior registration.

Easter in Antequera is one of the most important annual events and it has its own particularities in this town like the event called 'correr la Vega (run the vega)', in which some brotherhoods are carrying the thrones running up steep hills.

On Labour Day, May 1 takes place this holiday.

August 15th is a holiday in Antequera and there is celebrated the Assumption of the Virgin.

The Antequera Fair takes place from 17 to 21 August 2016. Just before the start of the fair takes place the opening speech, the lighting of the portal and fireworks during the night.
You can visit in Antequera the Day Fair in the city centre and at night at the fairgrounds with rides and booths.

On September 8 is celebrated the day of the Virgen de los Remedios.

On October 12 takes place Columbus Day in Antequera also called 'dia del Pilar' where is commemorated the discovery of America.

Halloween in Antequera is celebrated the last night of October and the first of November with special events, parties and a costume contest where will be awarded the best Halloween costume.

December 6 is Constitution Day.

Christmas in Antequera: Christmas in Antequera is lived with decorations and special events during the night from 24 to 25 December meanwhile many families await the arrival of Santa Claus.
